Gallery Combine Works presents a two-person exhibition by So-Yun , Jung and A-Hyun, Jeon titled [God’s unnamed things... ] from April 11th to May 4th, 2024
In a village, comprised of people with various ideologies and beliefs, each person held their own faith and belief deep within. Some believed in gods of the sky, some worshipped gods of the earth, and others sacrificed to their inner gods.
One day, the sage of the village posed a question to the villagers, "How can we define god ? And what significance do the gods hold in our lives?" Some saw the gods as the creators of all existence, some perceived them as forces maintaining order in the world, and others viewed them as spiritual beings bringing inner harmony and balance.
Artists So-Yun,Jung and A-hyun,Jeon embarked on individual journeys to discover something within themselves. They traversed mountains, rivers, forests, and seas, embarking on journeys of self-discovery, where they encountered different gods within themselves.
Artist So-Yun,Jung art works with fiber materials by directly dyeing transparent thread allowing flexible fiber materials to become lines and surfaces through sewing machines, shaping and refining their forms through fiber work.
This exhibition delves into a philosophical exploration of "serenity amidst the tension between anxiety and stability" and weaves the narratives of all emotions and experiences we encounter into the story of threads. It reminds us that our lives are composed of moments, like combinations of dots and threads, constantly overlapping points, lines, and surfaces. The repeated overlapping of dots, lines, and surfaces, reinterpreted by the artist, becomes the nameless gifts of the gods within the space, floating around as drawings containing nature and the human body, characterized by lines and shapes.
The artist A -hyun,Jeon approaches her creative process by shaping reflections and concepts through various materials such as resin, cement, and wood, depicting contemplation through nature. In her exhibition, she presents the “Deep Mountain Series," capturing moments of finding meaning and solace in the obscured and distant view of mountains covered by cloud and fog. Additionally, she introduces "Vallen in," a flat work aiming to create moments for self-reflection through the overlap of actions and repetitions, enabling one to contemplate oneself.
The motif frequently appearing in her works is likened to the tranquility brought by the cloud and fog, offering serenity to our lives, and it is perceived as a stable space where inner depths resonate, allowing one to remain unchanged despite the passage of time.

Delving deeply into one's inner self amidst the mountains, sky, and embrace of nature, the artist seeks to discover the divine within oneself within the infinite flow of existence and time. [ God’s nameless things …] are also expressions of what the artist intends to convey, representing a form of unity. Through this, the journey of expressing one's emotions, thoughts, or beliefs leads to a deeper understanding and enlightenment.
Everything we often take for granted in our daily lives carries inherent meaning and value within it. The artworks presented by these two female artists in this exhibition not only convey new perspectives and aesthetic inspiration to us but also lead us to discover the nameless things hidden within ourselves. Through their works, we go beyond mere representations of landscapes or forms and discover the nameless gifts from the gods..
This in essence, connects to the journey of self-discovery.

갤러리 컴바인웍스는 정소윤 &전 아현 의 2인 기획전 [신이 주는 이름 없는 것...] 을 2024년 04월 11일 부터 05월 04일까지 진행한다.
한 마을에 다양한 사상과 신념을 품은 사람들로 이루어져 있었습니다. 그들 각자가 마음 깊은 곳에 숨겨둔 믿음과 신념이 있었죠. 어떤 사람들은 하늘의 신을 믿었고, 어떤 사람들은 대지의 신을 숭배했습니다. 그리고 어떤 사람들은 내면의 각자의 신에게 헌신했습니다. 한날 , 이 마을의 현자가 한 가지 궁금증을 가지고 마을 사람들에게 물었습니다. "우리는 어떻게 신을 정의할 수 있을까요? 그리고 신은 우리의 삶에서 어떤 의미를 지니는 걸까요?" 이 질문에 어떤 사람은 신을 모든 존재의 창조자로 생각했고, 어떤 사람은 신을 세상의 질서를 유지하는 힘으로 인식했습니다. 그리고 어떤 사람들은 신을 내면의 조화와 균형을 이루는 정신적인 존재로 생각했습니다.
정소윤, 전아현 작가는 자신의 마음속에 존재하는 무언가를 찾기 위해 각자의 여행을 떠났다. 그들은 산과 강, 숲과 바다를 넘나들며 자신을 깨우치는 여정을 시작했고 그 길에서 자신의 내면에서 각기 다른 신들을 발견했다.
투명 사에 직접 염색을 하여 유연한 섬유 재질이 재봉틀을 통해 선이 면이 되고 형태를 다져 나가며 조형 작업을 하는 작가 정소윤 , 이번 전시는 ‘불안과 안정 사이 그 어딘가 에서의 고요함＇에 대한 철학적 탐구 와 우리가 겪는 모든 감정과 경험을 실타래의 이야기로 빚어내며 우리의 삶은 작은 점과 실의 조합처럼, 순간들의 연속으로 이루어져 있음을 재 상기시킨다. 점, 선, 면의 반복된 중첩으로 작가가 재해석한 이름 없는 신의 선물 들은 공간 안에 자연과 인체를 담은 작가만의 고유한 입체 선 드로잉 형상으로 떠다닌다.
작가 전아현 은 자연을 통한 사색과 관념을 레진, 시멘트, 나무 등 다양한 소재로 작품으로 형상화하는 과정을 통해 창작에 임한다. 산에 깔려진 안개로 가려지고 멀어지는 산의 모습을 통해 존재의 의미와 위로를 얻었던 순간을 담아낸 ‘ 심산(深山) 시리즈’와 나를 담아내는 과정을 행위와 반복의 중첩을 통해 자신을 돌아볼 수 있는 순간을 만들고자 한 ‘vallen in ‘평면 작업을 이번전시에서 선보인다.
작품에 자주 등장하는 운무는 마치 우리의 삶에 쉼을 가져다 주는 안개자락처럼 여유를 안겨 주기도, 내면의 깊은 영역을 공명 시켜 시간이 흘러가더라도 변함 없이 함께할 수 있는 안정된 공간으로 여겨진다.

산과 하늘 그리고 자연의 품 속에서 내면을 깊이 탐구하며 존재와 무한한 시간의 흐름 안에서 내 안의 신을 발견하고자 한다. [신이 주는 이름 없는 것… ] 또한 작가가 표현하고자 하는 무언의 동류이다. 이를 통해 자신의 감정, 생각, 또는 신념을 담아내며 더 깊은 의미와 깨달음을 찾아가는 여정으로 이어질 것이다.
일상에서 우리가 당연시 여기는 모든 것은 그 속에 담긴 의미와 가치를 지니고 있다. 이번 전시에서 보여주는 두 여성 작가의 작품은 우리에게 새로운 시각과 미학적인 감동 전달 뿐 만 아니라 내면에 감춰진 이름 없는 것을 발견하도록 우리를 이끌었다.
이들의 작품을 통해 우리는 단순한 풍경이나 형상의 표현을 넘어서서, 신이 주는 이름 없는 것을 발견하는 것… 곧 그것은 자기 자신을 발견하는 힘 과도 연결된다.
